Illustrations by Child Refugees from Syria Living in Türkiye
Türkiye is home to roughly 3.6 million people displaced by civil war in Syria. Many of them are children.
At Uprooted, hand-drawn illustrations from students at Tzu Chi’s El Menahil International School in Istanbul take the spotlight in a special section devoted to sharing the tender, impressionable, and often overlooked perspective of child refugees. What’s more, videos featuring each student artists’ statement accompany the pieces on display.
Explore Tzu Chi’s extensive work in Istanbul, where volunteers spearheaded efforts to establish El Menahil International School specifically for child refugees from Syria. At Uprooted, you will see how El Menahil lives up to its name, which in Arabic, means oasis.
