Event Description
Come together with storytellers and changemakers, in dialogue on how to live a lifestyle integrated with the SDGs, discuss how to elevate the stories and best practices from communities practicing sustainable living, and strategize on how policy makers and other stakeholders can work together to reinforce a conscious SDG lifestyle.
Background:
There are 6 years left to achieve the SDGs, and with many goals lagging behind their targets, off-tracked by the pandemic, erosion of multilateral cooperation, and culture that places profit above sustainability, a values shift is needed to ensure that we address the interconnected crises we face: conflict, climate change, and escalating food insecurity to name a few.
Building sustainable futures for all requires collective reimagining coupled with a normalization of sustainable development goals as an achievable lifestyle at the household and community level bolstered by innovative policies and institutional best practices. Storytelling for Hope: Living the SDG Lifestyle series brings together these perspectives within the UN community to envision a better tomorrow through the power of storytelling and restorative dialogue. This series of global community conversations began as part of a campaign to normalize the “SDG Lifestyles” for the masses at the 2024 High Level Political Forum in order to build community, cocreate a space for shared reflection, and provide resources for action.
Hosted on the sidelines of the Summit of the Future, this global community conversation will bring together policymakers, institutions and practitioners working on the ground for an interactive exploration on how the SDGs are already being integrated our daily lives; how to elevate stories and measure the impact of cultures that practice sustainable living; and how policy makers and other stakeholders can work together to institutionalize best practices that reinforce a conscious SDG lifestyle.
