Climate change impacts are here already, and, for now, they’re here to stay. Climate change disproportionately impacts vulnerable communities, which translates to exacerbated gender inequality.
In this our premiere episode of United in Action: A Dialogue at the Tzu Chi Center for Compassionate Relief, we’ll be discussing the ways we can uplift women and face climate change, turning crisis into opportunity with our two guests Cristina Tirado one of the lead authors of the IPCC 2022 AR6 Report and Saphira Rameshfar, representative of the Baha’i International Community to the United Nations.
About Our Guests
Dr. Cristina Tirado works at the interface between science and policy related to climate change, health, food and sustainable development with the University, WHO, UNEP, UNFCCC, governments, and NGOs worldwide. She serves as the president of the Sustainability Health and Education Foundation, and is also an Adjunct Professor at UCLA’s School of Public Health. Cristina is a Fulbright Scholar with MS/PhD degrees in Environmental Sciences from Cornell University.
Saphira is a Representative of the Baha’i International Community to the United Nations Headquarters in New York, and is on the Executive Committee of the NGO Committee on the Status of Women. Saphira has served as Co-Chair of the Faith and Feminism Working Group to the United Nations, Co-Chair of the Working Group on Girls to the United Nations, and on the Youth Steering Committee to the United Nations Department of Global Communications.
